Macro viruses.

Macro virus is a harmful program written on macro language, which is integrated into data processing system. This virus duplicates by means of different macro languages, and by means of these languages macro virus trespass from one infected file to another. Macro viruses activates with the infected file running, they capture file's administration and intercept file functions and then infects any requested or referred file. Macro viruses refer to the group of residential viruses, they are active not only during the running of infected file, but also even after it, actually they remain active while text or table editor is running.
After infecting certain file macro virus is able to perform different functions. For example in case of infection MicrosoftWord file macro virus is able to open, save, close, print file etc. Other words macro virus is able to perform just the same function the program performs. During your working with infected file Word finds and operates appropriate macros. There are also macros that are automatically lunched as appears the appropriate situation. For example as you open Word's file program starts looking for open macro, and if there's an open macro program operates it. So, when you open file Word automatically performs AutoOpen macro, when you close file Word performs AutoClose macro, when you save file Word performs AutoSave macro and so on and so forth.
In case when your PC is infected by macro virus you will face the following problems:
- The 'save as' Word function become disable.
- The impossibility to save file to another disk or catalogue.
- Disabling of 'save' function and as a result impossibility to bring any changes to document.
- Disabling of 'Security level' inlay.
- Displaying of system notification as for different kinds of errors.
Sometimes creators of micro viruses are being rather vain, and if so you may find in file's properties on the report inlay data that are filled by the author of the macro virus. To test system for infection of macro viruses it's enough to look through the menu item Tool – Macro. In case if you get the message about existence of alien macros those could be virus's macros. Some of the macro viruses are able to change options in the Tool menu item, so if you noticed that your program allows functions you never chose it could be an indication of macro infection.
To dispose macro virus you have to choose antivirus software rather carefully. Some of the antivirus programs don't dispose macro viruses completely and remains the bigger pert of macro-code unchanged.
