Viruses' properties.

Nowadays personal computer are being produced and set after the special structure that makes accessible all resources of the PC for every user and increasing risk of viruses' penetration is coupled with this accessibility. So what is virus? There's now concrete definition for this term that would describe all details of viruses' activity and properties. Viruses are widely distinctive by their nature, functions, ways of penetration and sectors they strike. Therefore it's impossible to discuss problem if you don't even now what you deal with, so we need at least an approximate definition of virus term. So let's say that viruses first of all are programs, and just like any other programs they have their own architecture, creator, functions and weak sides. The main function of virus is damaging of some kinds of software. It's clear that viruses don't come from nowhere, someone creates them, just like every other programs. Some viruses are created in order to sell the antivirus program that will rescue your PC from it, and some of them are created to destroy important information or the information that is undesirable to be seen by anyone.

Virus is able to rotate the picture of your desktop, but it can't rotate the monitor itself; virus may delete some files of you HDD but it can't delete the HDD itself and that is good news, isn't it? Some of the terrified users believe that viruses are able to kill someone by the means of demonstration deadly pictures, videos or even colour gamut that contains 25th frame. Sure it's an apple sauce, digital monster can damage only digital objects, and there's no way it leaves the virtual environment and proceed to the real world. Virus is a program that is able to self-replication and self-operating, and this ability is the highest level of their capacity. This ability is also incident for every operation system; this ability means that programme is able to create its own copies, large number of copies. And that's what viruses do, they copy itself everywhere around the system, and its not necessary for copies to be identical with the original, more over sometimes copies are totally different.

Viruses are unable operating in the conditions of full insulation as it's a joining program. For the correct and successful operation viruses need codes of other programs, files' information and file structure information or even names of other programs. It's an indispensable condition of any virus' operating as those are the only ways for virus to provide itself with administration.

According to way of spreading and penetrating we can divide viruses into two groups: computer viruses and network viruses, so called network worms. Unlike the network viruses computer viruses don't use network resources as a mean of spreading and penetrating. The copy of the computer virus can penetrate to another remote computer only in case of activating the infected information medium on that computer. Viruses have no such abilities to provide their passing from one computer to another remote. Network worms move from one computer to another by the means of network, and it doesn't matter whether it's computer or internet network. Even if the infected computer is placed hundred miles away from you it won't be a big deal for virus to copy itself to your computer.
